The beginning of a new year is upon us. I think when setting resolutions it is important to be realistic. The last thing anyone needs in February is to be depressed because they could not adhere to a ridiculously strict resolution. As my Pilates instructor would say "Success Options!!" and I firmly believe in those! Last year I wanted to focus a bit more on physical and mental wellness, so I started pilates. It has been a great success (some months better than others, but do what you can ya know?). Below are my resolutions for 2022:
1) Being more committed to the environment. Part of the reason I started this was because I am so tired of seeing home bloggers and influencers completely redo their houses every season- or worse build a new house every single year. I can't imagine living in a house where almost everything is new all of the time. Where does all the stuff go every season? A commitment to sustainability is reduce, reuse, recycle. I think often I focus on the recycle, when really one of the most impactful things a person can do is reduce consumption in general.
2) Focus on the present. I worked on this last year and I really saw a positive change in my mental health. Worrying about tomorrow only ruins today. In the same vein I worked on patience last year but as my husband can attest, I still have absolutely zero patience :)
3) Be one with nature. Yeah, yeah, yeah- I know whoever knows me is saying "oh hell know" that girl has become a city dweller. Maybe I have watched too any mountain climbing documentaries or it is my childhood roots on the farm calling, but it is my goal to be outside more. I think this resolution is the furthest stretch for me, so we will see what happens!
