Wow- what a December to remember!
This Christmas really was great for our family! I was very thankful that everyone got vaxxed, boosted and passed their rapid tests so we could enjoy quality family time!
I also saw many, many social media posts of families that were not as lucky and had members who ended up quarantined. I am truly sorry and hope you were still able to celebrate in the spirit of Christmas!
On my reels I shared photos of my uncle's home. It is breathtaking and even better looking in real life. He loves all things vintage and has invested a lot of time and effort into his decor. He essentially saved his house from demolition and has spent most of his life renovating it. It is truly a late 1800s beauty of a house now- complete with a maids staircase/quarters and multiple fireplaces. While his house is filled with beautiful things- my uncle always makes a special effort to be kid friendly. This past fall he created a "pirates treasure box" for my nephew complete with gold coins, a tiara and shiny baubles (which are his vintage cufflink collection). My nephew had a wonderful time playing Christmas Eve and eating at his special seat at the head of the table.
Christmas morning was spent at my parents and sisters family. Every year since I can remember, my dad has created a scavenger hunt at the end for everyone to get their "big present." The "big present" is usually a complete surprise and honestly, is always something super awesome, which is why four grown adult children will literally run through the house to find the clues and get to the gifts! This year my sister and I got Dyson hair dryers. It was a total shock- I have always been curious about them but never thought I would own one. It is pretty awesome (not that I have a lot of experience with extremely expensive hair dryers), but it sounds amazing, it looks amazing and I am very thankful!
Gift Round Up-
Favorite Gifts Given:
A wine/cocktail serving board I got from Uncommon Goods for my brother-in-law. It is a long board with a slit in the middle to slide wine glasses in to carry them.
A Christmas Ornament from the Preppy Bunny (in Countryside Village, Omaha) for my uncle. I discovered the store on my way to get bread from le quartier and it's an adorable store. The owner was also really nice and said they opened in October of this year.
Favorite Gift I Received:
In my husbands family secret santa, his sister's family got me an assortment of Root 23 Simple Syrups and they are pretty cool. I am going to start cocktail crafting this weekend with them- so stay tuned for more!
Favorite Unexpected Gift:
My nephew gave my husband a pop-it of baby Yoda. My nephew was so proud he found this and it actually is pretty cute!
